Nuuri Leadership Lunch Shoreditch

Over the past three weeks, we’ve hosted two Nuuri Leadership Lunches, first in London and then in Edinburgh, bringing together nursery owners, group leaders and early-years professionals from across the sector for a series of focused roundtable discussions. The theme for both events was simple but important: parent reviews. What’s working today, what isn’t, and what a better, more transparent system could look like for families and nurseries alike.

London: honest debate in Shoreditch

Our first Leadership Lunch took place at One Hundred Shoreditch, where Nuuri co-hosted a roundtable with 20 early-years leaders from across the UK.

With representation from single-setting owners through to some of the country’s largest nursery groups, the conversation was energetic, open and refreshingly honest. Leaders shared real experiences of collecting reviews, responding to parent feedback, and managing the operational and emotional impact that reviews can have on teams.

The discussion highlighted several consistent themes:

  • Reviews remain an influential decision-making tool for parents.

  • Many nurseries feel current platforms don’t always reflect the full story behind a setting.

  • There is a strong appetite for fairer, more contextual and more transparent review systems.

The afternoon sparked lively debate and valuable insight into what a future-focused review ecosystem could look like.

Edinburgh: collaboration at Gleneagles Townhouse

Our second Leadership Lunch took place at the beautiful Gleneagles Townhouse in Edinburgh, bringing together nursery owners and leaders from across Scotland.

The focus once again was on collaboration, transparency and practical solutions. Conversations ranged from:

  • How and where nurseries currently collect reviews

  • The expectations parents now have when researching childcare

  • The operational realities of managing feedback in busy settings

  • What a more balanced, constructive review system might look like

The tone of the room was open and constructive, with leaders sharing both the challenges and the opportunities that parent reviews present.

These are the kinds of discussions where real change starts - when people across the sector sit around the same table, share experiences, and work towards better outcomes for families.

Why parent reviews matter

At Nuuri, we believe parent reviews and experiences play a critical role in helping families make confident, informed decisions about childcare. Parenting is a personal decision and therefore parents require honest and transparent information in order to make the right decisions for their family.

But we also know the system needs to work for nurseries as well as parents. Reviews should:

  • Provide meaningful insight, not just star ratings

  • Reflect the context behind feedback

  • Encourage constructive, balanced conversations

  • Help build trust between families and settings

  • Ensure that operational feedback and online reviews are seperated

The insights from both Leadership Lunches will directly inform how we continue to develop review features and parent-experience tools across the Nuuri platform.

Thank you to everyone who joined us

We’re incredibly grateful to all the nursery owners, leaders and partners who took the time to attend, share their perspectives and contribute to such open and valuable discussions.

From Shoreditch to Edinburgh, the energy in both rooms showed just how passionate the sector is about improving the parent journey.

More Nuuri Leadership Lunches are already being planned for later this year.

If you’d like to be part of the conversation, keep an eye on our updates or get in touch with the Nuuri team.
