Cosy Corner Day Nursery

Our overall aim is to provide the highest quality of childcare and learning and play experiences for all of our children. Although we accommodate babies from 12 weeks the average age in our baby room is 6months to 16 months. Naturally children develop at different ages with some discovering how to sit and move, whilst others are crawling and taking those first steps. Baby Room The babies keep to their own routines to ensure they feel happy, secure and settled during their time with us in the nursery. A Daily Diary will be kept to inform you of feeds, sleeps and nappy changes on a daily basis. This is a two way book where we will record daily activities and you can also put in any information which you might need to pass onto your key worker.

This room can accommodate children from 16 – 30 months We offer a wide range of experiences that are relevant, imaginative, creative and challenging through the nursery day and carefully planned activities to stimulate and encourage their development.

2.5 – 3 years on the first floor The nursery day includes a wide range of planned activities including opportunities for music and movement, messy and creative play. All the activities provided are encouraging important social skills i.e. Turn-taking, sharing, playing in groups and co-operating. Following The EYFS At this stage, children display a greater competence at moving and talking and pretending. They also show increased confidence in themselves and their skills at making relationships. Their increased self-confidence and a belief in themselves, which leads them to be more self- assured and secure. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage approach to learning, encouraging each child to be independent and confident.

We promote a natural and stimulating environment throughout the four rooms pre school have access to, a large play room, messy room, discovery room and quiet area. This allows children to explore the world around them at their own pace. We provide children with a balance of free and structured activities designed to encourage language, confidence and independence. As well as providing the children with well thought out activities and tasks, we provide them with resources that inspire the children and encourage them to initiate their own learning. Our Pre-School Children Develop & Grow At this age and stage of development children deepen their understanding by playing, talking, observing, planning, questioning, experimenting, testing and repeating and reflecting and responding to adults and to each other. The rooms are set out to follow the children’s interests and on going needs alongside the requirements of the Early years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
