Little Barn Owls Nursery, Brookfield, is an 80-place nursery offering a safe, happy and stimulating environment where children are supported to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning. We work closely in partnership with families and operate an open-door policy, ensuring strong relationships and clear communication to support every child’s development.

Our approach is enquiry-based and inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, where children lead their learning through their own interests, ideas and curiosity. We see every child as capable and full of potential, and our educators guide and support them through meaningful, play-based experiences that encourage creativity, exploration and a lifelong love of learning.

The nursery provides a rich and engaging environment with carefully designed spaces for each age group, from babies through to pre-school. All rooms offer free-flow access to the garden, allowing children to move seamlessly between indoors and outdoors throughout the day. Our inside–out approach ensures that learning continues in all environments, supporting independence, choice and confidence.

Outdoor learning is central to life at Brookfield, with children spending significant time outside each day. They explore, build, create and develop resilience through Forest School sessions, while our Farm School provides opportunities to care for animals, collect eggs and learn responsibility through hands-on experiences. These real-life opportunities help children develop a strong connection to nature and the world around them.

Each day offers a balance of child-led play, small group experiences and creative activities such as art, cooking and storytelling. Learning is shaped around children’s interests and often develops into longer-term projects, making it engaging and meaningful. Fresh, home-cooked meals are prepared onsite each day using seasonal ingredients, with children often involved in growing and preparing food as part of their learning.

We work in close partnership with parents, keeping you connected through regular communication, shared observations and updates on your child’s progress.
