Little Barn Owls Nursery, Midhurst is a 50-place nursery for children aged 3 months to 5 years, located close to Midhurst town centre.
The nursery provides high-quality early years care and education within a warm, welcoming environment designed to support children’s development, curiosity and wellbeing.
We work in close partnership with families and operate an open-door policy, ensuring strong relationships and ongoing communication to support every child’s individual journey.
The nursery is organised into two carefully planned rooms, each tailored to meet the needs of different age groups, from babies through to pre-school. These spaces are thoughtfully curated with inspiring environments, open-ended resources and calm, nurturing areas that encourage exploration, creativity and independent learning, while ensuring children feel secure and supported. Each room benefits from free-flow access to the garden, allowing children to move seamlessly between indoor and outdoor environments throughout the day.
Children at Little Barn Owls benefit from a spacious outdoor environment, including an open-plan garden and outdoor Atelier. Children can care for animals and take part in growing and tending to plants in the edible garden.
The nursery follows an enquiry-based approach to learning, inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, alongside Scandinavian and forest school influences. Children are encouraged to lead their own learning through curiosity, creativity and collaboration, supported by skilled educators who observe, guide and extend their ideas.
Rich environments, including creative studios and sensory spaces, allow children to express themselves in a wide variety of ways, recognising that every child is capable and full of potential.
Each day offers a balance of child-led play, small group experiences and meaningful activities such as art, cooking, storytelling and project work, all shaped by children’s interests. Children enjoy freshly prepared, home-cooked meals each day, using seasonal ingredients, with opportunities to be involved in cooking and food preparation as part of their learning.
Every child is supported by a dedicated Key Person who builds strong relationships with both child and family, helping them to settle confidently into nursery life and supporting their ongoing development. We keep parents closely connected through regular updates, shared observations and communication, creating a collaborative approach to each child’s learning and wellbeing.
Led by a dedicated and experienced team, Little Barn Owls Nursery, Midhurst offers a safe, supportive and inspiring environment where children can learn, explore and develop the skills and confidence they need for the next stage of their education.
