Little Barn Owls Nursery at Bohunt

Little Barn Owls Bohunt is our sixth award-winning nursery, located at Bohunt School in Horsham, West Sussex. Just ten minutes from Horsham town centre, it is a welcoming 52-place nursery for children aged 0–5, where children are encouraged to think, wonder, and explore in a warm and nurturing environment.

Our approach is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and the Scandinavian forest school approach, placing children’s curiosity, independence, and connection with nature at the heart of their learning. Our carefully designed indoor spaces are filled with natural light and thoughtfully chosen materials that invite children to explore, create, and collaborate.

Our youngest children, from birth to two years, begin their journey in Snowies, where sensory experiences, open-ended play, and attentive care support early development and strong, secure relationships. As children grow, they move into Tawnies, where they are encouraged to investigate ideas, ask questions, and express themselves through project-based learning, mark-making, storytelling, construction, and collaborative play.

Children enjoy an open-plan garden, designed to encourage free movement between indoor and outdoor learning. Here they can explore the natural world, take part in seasonal activities, enjoy gardening, and develop confidence through active, imaginative play.

Our close partnership with Bohunt School is another exciting part of the nursery’s future. Over time, children will have opportunities to access the school’s facilities, further enriching their experiences and helping them become familiar with the wider school environment as they prepare for their next stage of learning.
