Pooh Corner is a delightful and spacious baby unit with no more than 9 babies at a time, situated in a quiet area of the main nursery, and our milk kitchen enables us to prepare drinking bottles individually. Our qualified nursery practitioners care for the little ones in a gentle and stimulating environment. We have a sheltered outdoor area with artificial grass where the babies play. Babies and young children also sleep outside in the rear garden in Silver Cross prams or push chairs that have been suitably laid flat. We carefully monitor the babies and children throughout their rest periods and consistently find that the fresh outdoor air aids sleep. During cooler months, families are encouraged to provide sleepsuits. Children also take part in Music with Becca.
Hundred Acre Wood is situated within the ground floor of the nursery. The room is clean, bright, and homely with no more than 12 children at a time. Here the younger toddlers have a large through-room and direct access to the bathroom and the outdoor area. In the Hundred Acre Wood room we encourage free play, with varied activities throughout. While promoting individuality, we provide children with every opportunity to develop socially and emotionally. For example, we help children to learn to share and to play happily alongside others. Here we focus on the prime areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, namely the areas of ‘Personal, Social and Emotional’ learning, ‘Communication and Language’ and ‘Physical’. Children also take part in Music with Becca.
Rabbits House is based on the ground floor and is for older toddlers. In Rabbits House, there are no more than 8 children at a time. In Rabbits House, the focus is on attention and listening and taking turns within groups. Our approach links to the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and continues the Montessori Method, which encourages the children to develop and attain skills naturally and without pressure. The children access our well-maintained outdoor areas several times throughout the day, come rain or shine! Children also take part in Stretch-n-Grow sessions.
In Kangas, the focus is on Pre-School readiness and helping children to learn all the skills necessary for them to reach their full potential. Our approach links to the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and continues the Montessori Method, which encourages the children to develop and attain skills naturally and without pressure. Children also take part in Forest School which has a hands-on approach giving children them plenty of opportunities to explore the great outdoors. Forest school activities develop confidence, self-esteem, imagination and physical ability as they are allowed to test their limits in the natural world.
Tiggers Place is on the first-floor for our older children and focuses on further developing children and their school readiness. We work very closely with all local primary schools to ensure Homeland children benefit from a smooth transition into school life. The Montessori Method features highly in our curriculum as well as other activities including Stretch-n-Grow and Spanish lessons. The children also enjoy learning in our beautiful outdoor play area.
