St Vincent's Nursery

The Young Explorers room offers care and education to our youngest children, from 6 weeks to 2 years. The room itself has a large carpet area with lots of cosy pillows, blankets and beanbags for the children to enjoy quiet time; we have various story baskets as part of continuous provision, as well as large heuristic area with great range of treasure baskets with natural, real-life resources to develop sensory exploration using all the senses. We have a large construction area which contains an excellent selection of wooden resources, including Loose Parts Play, where the children are able to develop their critical thinking skills within their play. Finally, there is a large messy play area where the children can explore activities within sand, water, playdough and mark making. On top of that, different activities are set up within the tuff trays each day, where the children are encouraged to express themselves through exploratory play, involving gloop, jelly, ice play and lots more!

Our Early Learners room is designed for children aged 2 to 3 years; it is a very spacious classroom with various designated areas for the children to explore, such as a large construction area with a floor sandpit, loose parts play and small world resources that support developing the children's imagination in creating their own storylines for their play. Each child's voice is extremely important and is used, amongst many other ways, in the role play area where the theme is changed regularly based on the ideas from the children. The children can have a relaxing break in the Calm Cave where they can have a read through various feelings / emotions books or talk to our Worry Monster. Our large mark making area contains a great range of accessible resources, including a 'busy fingers' area with an interactive board. The Early Learners' room also has a reading area with a 'Story of the Month, and a rolling snack station which the children use independently.

Our spacious, light, airy Pre-school room is designed for children aged 3-4 years to build a stronger sense of their identity, whilst preparing them for school. The room offers excellent opportunities that cater for all sevel areas of learning, following the EYFS curriculum framework. To promote independence, the children are free to access all areas of learning as they wish, developing their understanding by exploring, predicting, experimenting, testing, reflecting and responding through investigation, technology, woodwork, dough making, loose parts and large scale sand. All of this encourages the children's imagination, curious minds, language and confidence.
